Sara Childress posted a condolence
Sunday, December 9, 2018
My name is Sara Childress and I share hope and comfort from the Bible at this sad time. We know we are promised a resurrection as John 5:28,29 says all those in the grave will hear his voice and come out. Graves are on earth so what future does the earth have? Psalm 37:9-11,29 answers that. It says that all evil people will be cut off from the earth and then meek and righteous people will possess the earth with an abundance of peace and be able to live forever. If y’all would like to talk further please call me at(662) 456-6116. I do give y’all my sympathy!

I just learned of Johnny's passing. I always respected Johnny as being one of the most honorable men I know. Always respectful, always friendly, and always smiling. I knew him from our days in the youth choir when we were teenagers. A person never knows the inner pain and none of us can share words to make anything better for those closest to him. However, I can say a prayer and offer you this Irish poem:
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was.
There is absolute and unbroken continuity.
What is this death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near,
just round the corner.
All is well.
Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
With prayers and love,
Gary Pike

Johnny was one of those rare people. He knew everyone, he remember everyone name even if it had been years since he last saw you. He was a true man of GOD and he loved and lived the life of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He would always help me get my mother Cordie Hodges on the bleachers at the ball field when my granddaughter played ball. He always gave her a lot of attention. That is the kind of man Johnny was. We all loved him so much and will continue to pray for his family. God be with each and everyone of you. I'm jealous Johnny you got your wings before me, fly high.

Lisa & Megan I will be praying for both of you & I am so sorry for your great loss.

I knew and loved Johnny for many years at the ECCC West Georgia Medical center. He was a wonderful technologist. I never worried about inspections by the Joint Commission because Johnny was in charge. Even more than that, he was a friend and a very good one at that. I remember everyday when he left work he said “ I am going to God’s country.” Well now he is not only in God’s country but in God’s presence. Thank you Johnny for all your great years at West Georgia Medical center. You will not be forgotten!

There are no words. I am so heartbroken for each of you. Johnny was a great guy that so loved his family and his GOD. I cannot begin to think of the right words but when I heard this morning my heart broke for all of you. The words from Jude came immediately to my heart and mind and I thought of how Jesus so cared.
It says in verses 24-25..now to Him who is able to keep you from falling and present you blameless before the presence of His glory with great joy. It is all about the grace that is provided to each of us through the love and sacrifice of Jesus.. I saw in my mind Jesus holding Johnny in his arms and saying.. This is my child..my loved one.
I will be praying for each of you as this life continues and hope that GOD keeps you wrapped in His mighty arms of love and protection as you live and love.
Johnny was a great guy and I enjoyed working with him all these years and know he will be so missed.

I am so saddened to learn of Johnny’s passing. He was a compassionate health care provider and a great asset to the Nuclear Medicine community. I was blessed to meet Johnny at Duke and to enjoy many years of friendship which expanded to include his beautiful family.
Lisa and Megan, please know that you are both in my continued prayers.
God Bless you both.

Johnny and I attended school together at Five Points, played tag at Mt Olive Club House, and later rode to Southern Union together. We worked at Randolph County Hospital at the same time. I was so proud he got to attend Duke University and that he had a very successful career. His face lit up when he spoke of Megan. He was like a cousin I never had. I will forever cherish the conversations we held. I am thankful God allowed our paths to cross and I will cherish his memory.

Johnny was part of the Lunch Bunch at the Hospital. We were loud at times with all of the laughter but at least we were having fun. I loved hearing his stories about Lisa and Megan, Alabama football and the farm that I was going to have my wedding at (just kidding). Johnny said he would charge me $25 to have the wedding there, but I had to bring my own McDonald's. I told Johnny what a deal, then Lisa said maybe you should see it first. I even liked his corny jokes, and then I would try to get him to laugh at my corny jokes. He was a special friend. He will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss, he was a great man!!
Praying for you and your family.
