OBITUARY Funeral services for Paul Parrish, age 86, of Wadley, will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 2:00 pm from Hope Memorial Christian Church with Rev. Bobby Burroughs officiating. Burial will follow at Forrester's Chapel Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, April 25th. Mr. Parrish will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to servcies beginning at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Mr. Parrish died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Citizens Baptist Medical Center in Talladega. Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Parrish of Wadley; one daughter, Sybil Stephens (Jerry) of Wadley; two sons, Michael Taylor (Carolyn) of Roanoke and Gene Taylor of LaFayette; son-in-law, Douglas Kirk of Wadley; two sisters, Dean Phipps of Valley and Christine Lane of Roanoke; one brother, Hulon Parrish of Roanoke; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dale Knight, Wendell Knight, Jimmy Bennett, Tommy Windsor, Greg Kirk and Malcom Bassett. Honorary pallbearers will be Pierce Stewart, Hudson Hodges, Billy Knight, Ralph Knight, Manley Knight, J. T. Langley and Ricky Noles. A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Parrish was born October 10, 1924, son of Mitchel Franklin and Nannie Lee Carson Parrish. He was a WWII Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Hope Memorial Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kathy Kirk; two sisters, Ava Bennett and Grace Brazil; one brother, Eulus Parrish; two grandchildren, Kelly and Christy Taylor.
