Obituary of LOUISE SMITH SPEARS

OBITUARY Funeral services for, Mrs. Louise Smith Spears, age 91, of Roanoke will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, April 17, 2011, from Highway Methodist Church with Rev. Vernon Willis, Rev. Johnny Williams and Rev. Tommy Gene Young. Mrs. Smith will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Burial to follow in the adjoining church cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Mrs. Spears died Friday, April 15, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Spears is survived by two daughters, Sherry Cook of Roanoke, Judy Hanson of Lake Wyley, SC; one son, Gaines Harvey Spears, Jr. of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Cook, Ryan Hart, Barry Owens, Jeremy Cummings, Kevin Cummings, Chris Mobley and Matthew Harlin. Mrs. Spears was born, November 27, 1919, the daughter of Ocie Lee and Melvina Smith. She was a member of Highway Methodist Church and had been a textile winder for Handley Mills and Candlewick Yarns.
