Obituary of Byron Banks
Funeral services for William Byron Banks, age 71, of Roanoke, will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Roanoke First United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Martin and Rev. Ralph Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday, July 7th. Mr. Banks will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services on Sunday.
Mr. Banks died Sunday, July 1, 2018, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
Survivors include one daughter, Paula Banks Camren (Rick) of Roanoke; one son, Jim Banks (Shannon) of Rock Mills; four grandchildren, Ashley Banks, Tori Banks, Sara Grace Banks and Hannah Camren; one sister, Judy Banks of Rock Mills; and a special niece, Melissa Royster of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Kelly, Bill Miamen, Hank Hurley, Bob Mosley, Lon Hurst and Danny Noles.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Banks was born December 13, 1946, the son of Yates Byron and Annie Bailey Banks. He was a faithful member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church and served for many years as Youth Director with his wife, Paulette. He had been employed as a water plant supervisor with the City of Roanoke, the City of LaFayette and the Fort Benning Civilian Contractor Water Departments. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Paulette Banks; daughter, Lisa Anne Banks; sister-in-law, Annette Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church Youth Group (P O Box 40, Roanoke, AL 36274) in memory of Byron and Paulette.
