Graveside services for Elder James Lawrence Yates, age 86, of LaGrange, formerly of Randolph County, will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 11:00 am (Central time) from Wehadkee Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Jordan officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm (Central time) on Friday, November 13th.
Mr. Yates died Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Hospice LaGrange.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane Gustavson (husband, Terry) of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Wynette Bryant (husband, Tony) of LaGrange, Ga.; two sisters, Betty Cobb of LaGrange and Maxine Taft of Rock Mills; four grandchildren, Nathan Gustavson, Adam Gustavson, Cody Bryant and Joshua Bryant.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Yates was born November 30, 1922, son of Willie Sharman and Lavada Harry Yates. He was a WWII Army veteran, a member of Wehadkee Primitive Baptist Church and had retired from Milliken. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Laura Pike Yates; and a brother, Awbrey Yates.
