Funeral services for Jerrell Calvin Cottle, age 79, of Roanoke, will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Scott Whaley and Rev. Tim Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, May 5, 2018.

Mr. Cottle passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Janell Fincher Cottle of Roanoke; two sons, Phillip Cottle (wife, Robin) of Roanoke and Brent Cottle (wife, Lee) of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Matthew Cottle, Lara Cottle, Jacob Cottle, Selena Cottle, and Breanna Cottle; and one sister, Bobbie Jean Pierce (husband, James) of Plymouth, NC.

Pallbearers will be Chance Hill, Greg Cottle, Garry Fincher, Jerome Fincher, Terry Cobb, and Michael Kirby.

Sammy Hill will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mr. Cottle was born on November 19, 1938, the son of Comer L. and Annie Waldrep Cottle. He was a member of North Main Congregational Christian Church and retired from CSX as Chief Train Dispatcher of the Atlanta division and the Florida business unit. Mr. Cottle was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Train Dispatcher Union.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fred Cottle, James Melvin Cottle, and Rayford Cottle; and two sisters, Mavis Cobb and Susie Elliott.

Memorials may be floral or the family requests donations to one’s church of choice.
