Funeral services for James Bradford (Brad) Mitchum, age 78, of Roanoke, will be held Friday, November 13, 2009, at 1:00 pm from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Revs. Kevin Buttrum and Bud Stiltner officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 12th.
Mr. Mitchum died Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Butler Mitchum of Roanoke; one daughter, Gail Buttrum (husband, Kevin) of Roanoke; two sons, Ronnie Mitchum of Opelika and Keith Mitchum (wife, Theresa) of Wadley; one sister, Marie Mitchum Smith of Roanoke; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Brad Mitchum, Lee Richardson, Matthew Buttrum, David Hill and Tim Smith.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Mitchum was born January 5, 1931, son of Vesco and Ozora McClendon Mitchum. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of Faith Baptist Church and had retired from Uniroyal. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Loyle and Roy Mitchum.
