Obituary of Rachel Joy Sanders

Rachel Joy Wortham Sanders, 68 of Roanoke passed away November 7, 2017. She is the daughter of the late Tom and Mattie Lee Wortham. In addition to her parents is preceded in death by her, brother-in-law, Byron Miller.

Rachel worked for West Point Pepperell/Stevens 20 plus years, she was a true Alabama Football fan, she loved listening to and singing music and weather permitting and sometime when it wasn’t she would be somewhere doing what she loved the most, fishing.

She is survived by her daughters, Gayle (Michael) Flanary, Tammy (Todd) Johnson, and Jeanie (Eddie) Smith. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jerry (Tiara Surrett) Flanary, Michael Flanary, Mitchell (Samantha) Flanary, Brittany Johnson, Hunter Johnson, Kevin Ross, Kaity Ross, Chloe Thompson, Aimee Smith & Emilie Smith, great grandchildren, Thomas Flanary and Anna Leigh Flanary, Breanna & Emily Ross. Brothers, Norman (Elaine) Richardson, Roy (Cathy) Wortham, Levi (Denise) Wortham and sisters, Lois Miller, Lee (Al) Dawson and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 13, 2017 from 1 PM to 2 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 2 PM with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating.
The family request to please not wear black, mom loved color.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to the charity of your choice in her memory. The family will receive friends after the service at Peachtree Apartments #488. For those wishing to bring food or visit before the service please feel free to do so starting Friday after 12PM at Peachtree Apartment # 488.
