Obituary of Oliver Jackson "Jack" Potts
Funeral services for Oliver Jackson “Jack” Potts, age 85, of Roanoke, will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Wendell Rush, Rev. Ricky Cummings, and Rev. Tim Whaley officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 23rd.
Mr. Potts passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Traylor Retirement Community.
Survivors include: his wife, Charlotte Potts of Roanoke; one daughter, Melinda Busbin of Roanoke; three sons, Jackie Potts (wife, Mary), Mike Potts (wife, Kathy), and Chuck Potts (wife, Angie) all of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, Joe Potts (wife, Yvette), Mollie Potts, Will Potts, Chris Potts (wife, Tiffany), Nick Potts (wife, Auburn), Graycee Potts, Makala Rohrer, and Cash Busbin; four great-grandchildren, Jaci Potts, Henley Potts, Coye Potts and Colton Potts.
Pallbearers will be John Landers, Phillip Welsh, Jerry Davis, Laran Potts, Cory Strength, and Jared Prince.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Potts was born on July 11, 1932, the son of George Pate and Blondell Gray Potts. He served in the army during the Korean War, was a member of Grace and Mercy Baptist Church, and was self-employed as a wood producer. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hubert Potts.
