Obituary of Willie Ronald Smith
Funeral services for Willie Ronald Smith, age 68, of Daviston will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Beulah Christian Church with Rev. Jamie Butts and Rev. Benny Lee Yates officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Wadley City Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Mr. Smith will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Friday.
Mr. Smith passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Lovvorn Smith of Newell; one daughter, Allison Herren of Woodland; one son, Scott Smith of Daviston; two grandchildren, Charlee and Maegan Smith; one sister, Angela Messer (husband, Kenneth) of Daviston; one brother, Rickey Smith of Wadley; and four nephews.
Pallbearers will be Justin Smith, Dustin Smith, Kenny Messer, Mikey Joiner, Benji Staples and Aaron Willoughby. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Clark and Rayford Mitchell.
An Alex City native, Mr. Smith was born on April 19, 1949, the son of Willie Horace “Bill” and Nelma Willoughby Smith. He was a member of Beulah Christian Church, worked as a millwright for Amoco Fabrics and Fibers, and loved motorcycles. Mr. Smith was a United States Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Hartley Smith; a son, Ronald Wayne Smith; and two brothers, Roy Smith and Rodney Smith.
