Obituary of Ann White

Funeral services for Ann White, age 90, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Brewer and Rev. Jimmy Brand officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Mrs. White will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday. Mrs. White passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at her sister’s home in Roanoke. Survivors include: one daughter, Vera Mulkey (husband, Virgil) of Roanoke; one great-grandchild, Angela Flores; one great-great-grandchild, Timothy Wayne Flores; one sister, Melba J. Waldrep of Roanoke; and one brother Thomas Junior Waldrep of Roanoke. Pallbearers will be Timothy Plunkett, Jon Waldrep, Richard Ward, Larry Clark, Michael Goss, and Gabriel Alvarado. A Roanoke native, Mrs. White was born on June 11, 1926, the daughter of Robert L. and Lee Ella Bassett Waldrep. She was Christian by faith and worked as a seamstress for Palm Beach Company and Handley Mills. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kara White; one grandchild; Kathy Mejia; one sister, Iva Lee Jones; and five brothers, Ford “Doc” Waldrep, Hershel Fred Waldrep, Herbert “Dolly” Waldrep, J. W. Waldrep, and Robert Jewell Waldrep.
