Obituary of Gladys Gann Almon

Graveside services for Gladys Eugenia Gann Almon, age 87, of Roanoke will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017, at 1:00 PM from Randolph Memory Gardens with Rev. Jeff Burns officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM on Friday before services begin.
Mrs. Almon passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Lafayette Nursing Home.
Survivors include: two brothers, Paul Gann of Capshaw, AL, and Curtis Gann of Melbourne, FL; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rick Webb, Fred Hill, Harvey McDow, and Tracy Belyeu.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Almon was born on December 27, 1929, the daughter of Cosby Garfield and Lela Susan Willingham Gann. She became a member of Trinity Baptist Church in 1946 and worked as a sales clerk for Belk’s. Mrs. Almon also was a pink lady for the Randolph County Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Ray Almon; one sister, Dolly Mae Slagle; and two brothers, Fred Gann and Ford Gann.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church or to the Lafayette Nursing Home, 555 B Street SW, Lafayette, AL 36862.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
