Obituary of Ruth Johnston Bailey

Funeral services for Ruth Johnston Bailey, age 82, of Wadley, will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 2:30 PM from Wadley Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Wadley Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM on prior to funeral services on Sunday. Mrs. Bailey passed away on March 29, 2017 at her residence. Survivors include: one daughter, Lynn Bailey Baggett (husband, Danny) of Wadley; one son, John Bailey of Wadley; two grandchildren, Zack Baggett (wife, Samantha) and Leigh Baggett Allen (husband, Matthew) both of Wadley; three great-grandchildren, Blakely Allen, Emmy Allen, and Cooper Allen all of Wadley; and two brothers, Manley Johnston and Doug Johnston. Pallbearers will be Zack Baggett, Matthew Allen, Adam Bailey, Jim Bailey, Matthew Davis, Ben Estes, and Ryan Kelley. A Houston County native, Mrs. Bailey was born on March 30, 1934, the daughter of Aubrey Ellis and Madie Silcox Johnston. She was a member of Wadley Baptist Church and worked as a teacher in the Randolph County Schools System. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Edward Bailey; daughter-in-law, Teresa M. Bailey; and two brothers, B.Z. Johnston and Henry Ellis Johnston.
