Obituary of Bonnie J. Whaley

Funeral services for Bonnie J. Whaley, age 85, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Whaley and Rev. Jeff Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 21 before services begin.
Mrs. Whaley passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Lafayette Nursing Home.
Survivors include: two daughters, Sandra Webb (husband, Rick) of Roanoke and Nancy Whaley of Carrollton, GA; one son, Mike Whaley (wife, Vickie) of Roanoke; three grandsons, Todd Webb, Scott Whaley, and Benji Whaley; five great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Mike Fisher and Teresa Brannon.
Pallbearers will be Todd Webb, Scott Whaley, Ben Whaley, Slay Whaley, Kevin Ogilvie, and Johnny Tennant.
A Boaz native, Mrs. Whaley was born on October 14, 1931, the daughter of John Wesley and Ethel Alexander Traylor. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and worked as a florist and daycare provider. Mrs. Whaley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ozeal W. “Pete” Whaley; and one brother, Thomas Traylor.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
