Obituary of Kenneth Gene Langley

Funeral services for Kenneth Gene Langley, age 56, of Wadley will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Grace and Mercy Baptist Church with Rev. David Glass and Rev. Chuck Potts officiating. Burial will follow at Midway United Methodist Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Monday, January 16, 2017. Mr. Langley will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Tuesday.
Mr. Langley passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa Langley of Wadley; one daughter, Brooke Langley of Wadley; two sons, Shaun Langley (wife, Stacy) and Brandon Langley, both of Wadley; six grandchildren, Clay Langley, Brent Langley, Bryant Langley, Amber Pike, Kason Langley, and Tyler Williams; one sister, Angie Potts (husband, Chuck); and two brothers, Keith Langley (wife, Ginny) of Wedowee and Phillip Langley of Wadley.
Pallbearers will be Will Langley, Nick Potts, Chris Langley, Jacob Langley, Corey Langley, Chris Jackson, Dennis Adamson, and Jamie Treadwell.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Langley was born on February 29, 1960, the son of Harold Gene and Floris Wilma Craven Langley. He was a member of Grace and Mercy Baptist Church and worked as a carpenter. Mr. Langley was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jeffery Langley and Calvin Langley.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
