Funeral services for Sue Francis Awbrey Bailey, age 94, of Roanoke, will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday.
Mrs. Bailey passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at EAMC-Lanier in Valley, AL.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Nelson of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Nelson (wife, Kristin) of Valley, AL, and Chris Nelson of Roanoke; and three great-grandchildren, Rush, Reid, and Ridge Nelson.
A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mrs. Bailey was born on January 14, 1922, the daughter of Tom Lewis and Lavada Smith Awbrey. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Roanoke and had worked for Mansour’s in Lagrange, GA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buck Bailey; one son, Johnny Bailey; three sisters, Ruth Johnson, Virginia McKissac, and Dorothy Bradshaw; two brothers, Lewis Awbrey and Buster Awbrey; and one son-in-law, Gary Nelson.
Memorials may be floral or the family requests contributions to First Baptist Church of Roanoke, 827 Main Street, Roanoke, AL 36274.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
