Obituary of Fred Hodges

Funeral services for Joe Fredrick “Fred” Hodges, age 80, of Wadley, will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at 3:00 PM from New Hope Christian Church with Richie Hodges, Sandy Croslin, and Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Christian Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00-3:00 PM on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
Mr. Hodges passed away on November 16, 2016 at his residence.
Survivors include: his wife, Tammy Hodges; daughter, Rhonda Hodges of Roanoke; two sons, Robert “Robbie” Hodges (wife, Janet) of Roanoke and Richard “Richie” Hodges (wife, Shron) of Washington; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Jerrell Hodges (wife, Royann) of Dickert, Waymon Hodges (wife, Linda) of Dickert, and Don Hodges (wife, Lynn) of Sylacauga.
Pallbearers will be David Harmon, Daryl Harmon, Scott Windsor, Bobby Hodges, Scott Hodges, and Daniel Hodges.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Hodges was born on April 20, 1936, the son of James Fredrick Hodges and Mary Jo Turnham Hodges. He was a member of Radney’s Chapel Methodist Church and worked at the distribution center for Goodyear Tire Co. and K-Mart. He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Hope Christian Church Cemetery Fund C/O Pat Milner, 7474 County Road 237 Wadley, Alabama 36276.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
