Graveside services for Hulett Hester, age 95, of Lafayette, will be held on Wednesday, October 19, at 2:00 PM from Cedarwood Cemetery with Rev. Mike Brewer officiating and Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30-2:00 PM on October 19 prior to the services.
Mr. Hester passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Lafayette Extended Care.
Survivors include: niece, Katrina Upchurch (husband, David) of Munford; granddaughter, Rhonda Burney Shaner; grandson, James Burney; a great grand-son, Brandon Shaner; and several other nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ron Harrell, Frank Sharpe, Kevin Smith, Tim Smith, and other family members.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Hester was born on May 21, 1921, the son of Allen and Purilla Craven Hester. He attended Trinity Baptist Church and worked as a doffer at the Lanett Mill. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Frances Brown Hester; his second wife, Glennie Elizabeth Hester; his daughter, Letha May Burney; two brothers, Hugh and Huel Hester; and two sisters, Edna Mae Hester Smith and Claude Bell Bowen Smith.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church or Chattahoochee Hospice.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
