Funeral services for James Dunn, age 87, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ken Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at High Pine Baptist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.
Mr. Dunn passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016, at his residence.
Survivors include: one stepdaughter, Lana G. Pierce of Ozark, AL; two sons, James Winford Dunn of Roanoke and David Gunn of Wadley; and a half sister, Ruby Jean Hodnett of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Jack Wood, David Hodnett, Glenn Hodnett, Hunter Fulghum, Kyle Fulghum, David Harmon, and Daryl Harmon.
A lifelong Randolph County resident, Mr. Dunn was born in Troup County, Georgia on December 29, 1928, the son of John Will and Mary Eulala Pope Dunn. He was a member of High Pine Baptist Church and worked as a truck driver. Mr. Dunn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Ann Dunn; two daughters, Jean Smith and Wanda Gail Wilson; two grandsons, James Herbert Dunn and Randal Kassie Lewis; and one sister, Ruth Graves.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
