Joy worked with my daughter at the library and she would always speak when she came into my work. I've know Joy for a very long time and she was such a pleasure to be around. She will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences.

Joy was a special person. I remember the sweetest prayer ever prayed for me was when I had to have one of my dogs put to sleep. She, Mary and Tim McDaniel, and I were in the same Sunday School class and we often talked about our love for God's creatures. She will be missed.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of Joy's family . I was so shocked and saddened upon hearing of her sudden death. I have known Joy all of her life and have many memories of how sweet she was to my mother during the years she was in assisted living there in Roanoke. Joy knew how much Mother loved to pass her time reading so she would regularly bring 4-5 large print books at the time to the Manor and come back a few weeks later with a new batch to switch out with her. Joy will be so missed by all who knew her ...especially her First Baptist Church family. May she rest in peace......

Joy is the second cousin to Jane, Kaye and Martha Beverly. Her mother and our grandmother, Sallie Mae Tomlin were sisters. We have wonderful memories of growing up in Roanoke, Alabama and going to the City Pharmacy where Uncle Loyce made us coke floats and we spent many hours pouring over the newest comic books! Then there was the Kitchen reunion every year, the first weekend in August where we shared many, many fun times with Joy and our cousins from Charlotte, North Carolina, Gayle & Suzanne Green. Their daddy, John T, was Mary Will's and Sallie Mae's brother.
We share in the sadness of Joy's untimely death with her family and friends in Roanoke.
