Obituary of Lynda Ann Glass May

Funeral services for Lynda Ann Glass May, age 68, of Roanoke, will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Roanoke Church of Christ with Bro. Gerald Romine and Bro. Scott Whaley officiating. Burial will follow at White’s Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00 PM on Sunday, March 27, 2016. Mrs. May will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services beginning on Monday.
Mrs. May passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, AL.
Survivors include her husband, Charles H. May of Roanoke; her mother, Elizabeth Ann Glass of Roanoke; two daughters, Mandy Bonner (husband, Trae) of Roanoke and Lynn Robinson (husband, Jimbo) of Stroud; two sons, Chris May (wife, Autumn) of Roanoke and Chuck May of Huntsville; six grandchildren, Vince Bonner, Anna Bonner, Beau Robinson, Addie May Robinson, Seth May, and Emma Grace May; and three sisters, Libby Whaley of Roanoke, Leisel Caldwell of Wedowee, and Laura Lumpkin of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Vince Bonner, Beau Robinson, Seth May, Will Lumpkin, Wade Lumpkin, and Tim Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers will be S.A. Kidd, Johnny Wallace, Bruce Davis, Lavoy Caldwell, and Tommy Wood.
A lifelong resident of Randolph County, Mrs. May was born on July 27, 1947, the daughter of William Leon and Elizabeth Ann Awbrey Glass. She was a member of Roanoke Church of Christ and had worked as a secretary for Amoco Fabrics. She was preceded in death by her father.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
