Obituary of Henry Ray Treadwell

Funeral services for Ray Treadwell, age 82, of Roanoke will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at 2:00 PM from Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Ryan Conger, Rev. Wayne Cowhick and Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Mr. Treadwell will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Sunday. Mr. Treadwell passed away Friday, February 26, 2016, at Wedowee Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Shelby Treadwell of Roanoke; one daughter, Denise Wortham (husband, Leaveston) of Roanoke; two sons, David Treadwell (wife, Lisa) of Roanoke and Kenneth Treadwell of Roanoke; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Billy Treadwell of Roanoke. Pallbearers will be Leaveston Wortham, Lee Cobb, Kyle Treadwell, Mark Wortham, Garrett Hunter, Robert Cavender, Bobby Treadwell, and Brandon Cobb. A Roanoke native, Mr. Treadwell was born on February 6, 1934, the son of Henry and Elma Brewer Treadwell. He was a member and Deacon of Rock Stand Congregational Christian Church, was retired from West Point Pepperell, and was a member of Rock Stand Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years and the Rock Stand Community Club. Mr. Treadwell was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Britt and Corey Treadwell; two sisters, Lois Walker and Jessie Mae Swann; and five brothers, Escar Treadwell, Clyde Treadwell, Harold Treadwell, Nedwin Treadwell, and Byron Treadwell. Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to the Rock Stand Cong. Christian Cemetery Fund.
