Obituary of Geneva Abner Emery

Funeral services for Geneva Abner Emery, age 89, of Wedowee, will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at 1:00 pm from Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Emery, Rev. Derek Farr and Rev. Raymond Sorrells officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 20th.
Mrs. Emery died suddenly on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Wedowee Hospital.
Survivors include one son, Ricky Emery (wife, Bonnie) of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Jessica Emery, John Emery (wife, Mia) and Allison Emery; one sister, Lora Childers of Wedowee; one brother, Braxton Abner of Hughley; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Head, Kevin Whaley, Kevin Buttrum, Jim Head, LaDon Morton and Jason Ussery.
A Randolph County native, Mrs. Emery was born February 16, 1926, the daughter of William David and Viola Ovelia Holloway Abner. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and had retired from Sewell Manufacturing Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Albert Emery; four sisters, Leima Johnson, Novella Bradley, Alma Abner and Willie Jo Webb; five brothers, Clovis Abner, Jasper Abner, Merle Abner, Buford Abner and Columbus Abner.

About Us
Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
