Obituary of Katherine Sims "Kitty" Lane

Funeral services for Katherine Sims “Kitty” Lane, age 93, of Opelika, formerly of Roanoke, will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Patricia Sims, Rev. Eric Hilyer, and Allen Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Lanes Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM on Thursday. Mrs. Lane passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Arbor Springs Health & Rehab Center in Opelika. Survivors include two daughters, Eileen Watts (husband, Willard) of Roanoke and Bobbie J. Brown (husband, William) of Opelika; nine grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Brown, Kelton Brown, Kyle Brown, Drew Brown, Steven Nolen, and Rocky Smith. A Chambers County native, Mrs. Lane was born on October 27, 1921, the daughter of Thomas Alexander and Offie Florence Brand Sims. She was a member of Lanes Chapel Methodist Church and had retired from Randolph County Hospital and Traylor’s Nursing Home as a LPN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Frank Lane; two daughters, Mary Ann Melton and Sara Elsie Lane; one sister, Elsie Russell; one brother, Hilt Sims; and one grandchild, Margaret Watts.
