Obituary of Jane Edwards

Jane McMurray Edwards, age 78, of Roanoke passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015, at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama. No service is planned at this time. A Roanoke native, Mrs. Edwards was born on October 9, 1936, the daughter of William Augustus and Doris Anglin McMurray. She was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church and was a real estate agent at Reliance Real Estate. Survivors include three sons, Joe F. Edwards, Jr., currently living in of Aldie, Virginia, Sam Edwards of Rock Mills, and Lee Edwards of Roanoke; one grandchild, Ally Jane Edwards; and one sister, Sissy Logan of Birmingham. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe F. Edwards, Sr.; three brothers, Bill McMurray, Jimmy McMurray, and Tom McMurray; and two sisters, Jean Cauthen and Ann Massey. She expressed her wish that this announcement thank her many friends in Randolph and Clay County and her extended family, including the McMurrays in South Alabama, for their love and friendship over many year. In lieu of flowers, she asked that contributions be made to the Roanoke First United Methodist Church.
