Obituary of Elvie Lucille Edmondson

Funeral services for Elvie Lucille Edmondson, age 88, of Roanoke will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Faith Baptist Church with Rev. S.T. Janney, Rev. Scott Whaley, and Rev. Dewey Vowell officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memory Gardens with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Mrs. Edmondson will lie in state for one hour prior to services beginning on Wednesday.
Mrs. Edmondson passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Traylor’s Nursing Center.
Survivors include: two daughters, Dorothy Whitlow of Opelika and Jane Overton (husband, David) of Roanoke; special niece, Debbie Boggs of Roanoke; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Geraldine Headrick of Lineville; and several nieces and nephews.
A Clay County native, Mrs. Edmondson was born on April 25, 1926, the daughter of William and Dora Hunter Nolen. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was a housewife. Mrs. Edmondson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hermon Edmondson; one son, Junior Edmondson; one granddaughter, Pattie Sue Whitlow; and six sisters.
Memorials may be floral or donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice.

About Us
Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
