Funeral services for Mary Nell Pope, age 75, of Roanoke will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Mark and Melissa Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Gray Hill Church of God Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2015.
Mrs. Pope passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at Traylor’s Nursing Center.
Survivors include: one daughter, Patricia Cox (husband, Tim) of Roanoke; three sons, Freddy Pope of Wedowee, Jimmy Pope of Roanoke, and Troy Pope of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ann Jiordano of Tampa, FL, Eva Carter of Tampa, FL, Sandra Inman of Dunedin, FL, and Cathy Love of Colquitt, GA; and one brother, Wayne Adkins of Century, FL.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Pope, T.J. Pope, Jordan Pope, Butch Davis, and Mike Pope.
A resident of Randolph County for 35 years, Mrs. Pope was born on March 15, 1939, the daughter of John Calvin and Anna Brown Adkins. She was a member of Gray Hill Church of God and had been employed with Reliance Real Estate. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James F. Pope, Sr., and one brother, Wade Adkins.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
