Funeral services for Jimmy Baird, age 82, of Roanoke will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Roanoke First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Barrow officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery with Quattlebaum Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to services beginning on Tuesday.
Mr. Baird passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Jerry Baird of Roanoke; one daughter, Lauree Crenshaw (husband, Daryl) of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Will and Wesley Crenshaw; and one sister, Hortence Cornwell of Anderson, SC.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Mitchum, Johnny Tennant, Alan Mitchum, Donny Smallwood, Rocky Rochell, and Daryl Crenshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be the Roanoke FUMC Men's Bible Class.
A Roanoke native, Mr. Baird was born on August 31, 1932, the son of James Dallas Baird, Sr., and Sara Loduska Swann Baird. He was a member of Roanoke First United Methodist Church and was self-employed. Mr. Baird was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Sue Huckby, Elizabeth Garner Vinson, and Agnes Pendleton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Roanoke First United Methodist Church or LifeChoice Hospice.

Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
