Funeral service for Douglas Eugene Hill, age 85, of Roanoke, will be 10:00 am, Thursday, June 24, 2010, from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Cecil Halsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 23, 2010, from 5-8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hill died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Era Bell Hill of Roanoke; one daughter, Joy McKinley of Roanoke, one son, Jimmy Hill of Roanoke; one brother, Winston Hill of Opelika; two grandchildren.
Mr. Hill was born June 24, 1924, the son of Daniel E. and Lorena McDonald Hill. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, and had been an Aerospace Engineer Technicial for the U. S. Government. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII.
