OBITUARY
Funeral services for Jarrell Jackson Garrett, Sr., age 87, of Athens, Georgia, formerly of Roanoke, will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at 2:00 PM from Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roger Florence officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31st.
Mr. Garrett passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville, Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice H. Garrett of Athens, GA; one son, Jarrell Jackson “Jackie” Garrett, Jr., of Athens, GA; two grandchildren, Jarrell Jackson Garrett, III (wife, Courtney), and Lauren Eris Barnett (husband, Shaun); and two great-grandchildren, Sam Oliver Tracy and Brady Barnett; one sister, Ruby Hodnett of Wadley; one step-sister, Ruth Graves of Phenix City; and one step-brother, James Dunn of Roanoke.
Pallbearers will be Pat Awbrey, Richard Tidwell, Johnny Stephens, Ricky Cofield, Mike Weeden and David Hodnett.
A Randolph County native, Mr. Garrett was born on January 28, 1928, the son of Reuben Jackson and Daisy Ruth Borders Garrett. He was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church and worked as assistant foreman at West Point Foundry & Machine Company. Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lera G. Bolt and Margaret Stephens; and one brother, Herman A. Garrett.

About Us
Quattlebaum’s was founded in 1930 by Robert B. Quattlebaum on Roanoke’s West Point Street. Relocated to Maple Drive, Quattlebaum Funeral Home was just across from Knight Sanatorium for many years. In 1953, a new building was constructed on College Street – where the funeral home is today.
